40k Buildings on the Cheap!

After writing about that Void Shield Generator conversion a few weeks ago, I decided that I'd try my hand at something similar.  I went down to my local Home Depot and picked up a variety of shapes and sizes of gang boxes.  Each one was only about $1.50-$2.00, so I may have bought a few more than I need. gangbox

The first thing you have to do is cut off those annoying side pieces that are used to nail the box to a wall.  It was pretty easy with a hobby saw, the plastic of the box isn't that rigid.  I filed down what was left with a rasp and moved on to decorating it.  I started by building a narrow walkway on top with extra pieces from my Imperial Sector kit.  Then I used some double diamond plate plasticard cut to size with a piece of trim plasticard around the mid section.  A couple accessories like some pipe and a ladder really polished off this side.  The front I'll be using a piece of door section from the Basilica Administratum (the window piece is there as a placeholder), plus some other accessories I had lying around.  I had most of this stuff just lying around my bits box, but overall the cost for this is quite low.
