December Workbench

Let’s take a little break from all the gaming to get in some hobby time! I still haven’t got a my painting area fixed up, but that doesn’t mean I’m not at work on my minis. Recently, I’ve delved into Military Orders (PanO was a mistake) for Infinity, and decided to add some extra heft to my Blood Bowl teams.

Infinity

Having recently scored a bunch of Military Orders models during Black Friday, I got started with the army by cranking out some of the conversions I’ve planned. Some of the MO minis are quite old, and really not up to snuff with modern Infinity designs, so I took it upon myself to modernize some of the Military Orders which are stuck with old minis. After really investigating the aesthetics of PanO armor, it turns out that the armor is incredibly consistent across the army, even between MO and non-MO armor. This makes it super easy to modify the kits to make other orders.

First up are my three Teuton Knights, complete with shoulder-mounted panzerfaust (stolen from Heavy Gear White Cats), and single, back-of-the-head antennas like the classic minis. The Teuton spitfire is made from the Father Knight spitfire arm, and the Orc MULTI rifle empty handed arm. To make my Santiago Knight with spitfire, I started with the discontinued Montessa knight, with a classic Santiago head. The original mini has back fins, which I decided to modernize with fugazi-style antenna and a sensor pod (also stolen from Heavy Gear bits). Finally, in the last photo on the right you can see my Hospitaller with MULTI rifle, which had a forearm swap with the Father Knight spitfire to be gesturing with a sword.

Blood Bowl

My favorite teams in Blood Bowl all happen to be stunties. Sure, I also enjoy my Humans, Lizardmen, and Wood Elves, but it’s the stunty teams that I really love playing. It should be no surprise that as soon as the Ogre team came out, I immediately picked it up and built it (it’s really a fantastic kit), but there was something else this release that really caught my eye, the Sporting Giant.

Once I read the rules for the Sporting Giant, I knew I had to have one. Looking over my shelf, my eyes landed on the giant I recently assembled for Warcry. With all the new Warcry monsters coming soon, I figured I could sacrifice it to a noble cause. I got busy with the clippers, removing extras and his club, getting down to a bare Giant. Next up I used greenstuff to make a proper helmet (and jock strap), then plasticard arm guards dotted with nail art spikes.

He’s still a ways off from being finished, I plan on adding old-school leather shoulder pads, as well as some much needed shin and knee guards, but I’m really happy with the results so far.

I hope you all have a good time over the holidays and New Years, I’ll be back in 2020 with more miniature shenanigans!
