So I’m sure by now you’ve seen my nasty Ogre list.  I have been playing quite a few games with this army, and in pretty much all of them, I have been extremely successful… but that’s not enough.  I am continuing my quest to make the downright most disgusting ogre list I can conceive.  After my latest games, I’ve come to realize that if I drop my beloved Stonehorn, I might be able to add some much needed utility to the army.  It’s not that the Stonehorn is bad by any means, but more that I already have the hard hitting and tough to kill unit genre covered.

Currently, the biggest weakness I’ve found in my list is charge redirection.  If you’re smart and have enough redirectors, there is no reason that you you can’t keep my ogre horde out of combat indefinitely, and that’s a problem.  My latest revision drops the Stonehorn and will add in half a dozen Leadbelchers.  They’re not quite as hard hitting in combat, but they do have a lovely average of 21 shots per turn, which should be able to turn any offending charge redirectors into a fine red paste before they can annoy my horde too much.

Slaughtermaster: Level 4, Lore of Death, Great Weapon, Armor of Silvered Steel, Greedy Fist, Channeling Staff

Bruiser: Iron Fist, Heavy Armor, Battle Standard Bearer, Deathcheater, Runemaw
Butcher: Level 2, Lore of the Great Maw, Great Weapon, Hellheart

15 Ironguts: Crusher, Bellower, Standard Bearer with Lookout Gnoblar, Standard of Discipline

4 Mournfang Cavalry: Heavy Armor, Iron Fists, Bellower, Standard Bearer, Dragonhide Banner
6 Leadbelchers

Originally, I had considered using 4 Maneaters with brace of handguns, sniper and poison, but unfortunately, they couldn’t do enough wounds on average to kill a Great Eagle reliably, or even a unit of Chaos Hounds.  Since I don’t want to take any risks, the Leadbelchers seem far more reliable.

I could drop the Lookout Gnoblar in the horde to add a Crusher to the Mournfangs, but I’m not sure if that would make too big of a difference in the end.  I wont be able to play this weekend to test this out, but I will try to get in a game early next week to give it a shot, and you can expect me to report the results.
